1. General

These Terms and Conditions apply to all saddle fitting services provided by The Saddle Fitter.

By booking an appointment, you agree to these terms.

Our primary concern is the welfare and comfort of both horse and rider, and we will always act in their best interests.

2. Bookings & Payments

All saddle fitting appointments must be paid in full either in advance or on the day of the appointment.

We accept payment via bank transfer (BACS) or cash payments.

  • Standard saddle fitting: £75 per horse
  • Group bookings (3+ horses, same location): £65 per horse

Each appointment includes the assessment of one saddle. Additional saddles are charged at £20 per saddle.

3. Additional Work & Repairs

  • Flocking adjustments: from £30
  • Gullet changes: approx. £35

For work requiring the saddle to be taken away, a quote will be provided following assessment. Payment must be made before work begins.

Full re-flock: £175. A follow-up fitting is required after approximately 8 weeks (charged separately).

4. Saddle Sales

All saddles must be paid for in full at the time of purchase.

A 14-day cooling-off period applies where applicable under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Any customisations to a saddle or damage to a saddle, and any saddle that is not in the same condition it was in when supplied will be evaluated if a refund is required and a valuation will be given.

Faults must be reported within 14 days and items returned for inspection. Replacement or resolution may take up to 28 days.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel orders where false or misleading information has been provided.

5. Cancellations & Rescheduling

  • More than 3 working days’ notice: full refund or reschedule
  • Less than 3 working days: 75% of the appointment fee payable
  • Same-day cancellations or no-shows: full fee charged

6. Client Responsibilities

At the time of booking, you must disclose:

  • Veterinary history
  • Behavioural issues (e.g. biting, kicking)
  • Any known vices

You must ensure:

  • The horse is clean, dry, and fit for assessment
  • A safe, suitable area is available for assessment on hard standing
  • A suitable area is available for ridden assessment

You must have appropriate equipment ready, including saddle(s), tack, riding hat, and boots.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in the appointment being cancelled without refund.

7. The Appointment

Each appointment includes assessment of the horse, saddle fit evaluation, and safety checks.

We reserve the right to refuse to continue if:

  • The horse is unsound or in discomfort
  • The saddle is unsafe
  • Conditions are unsuitable

Typical appointment durations:

  • Existing saddle check: approximately 1 hour
  • New saddle fitting: up to 2 hours

8. Follow-Up & Ongoing Care

Horses change shape regularly due to workload, fitness, and seasonal variation.

We recommend:

  • Saddle checks every 3–6 months
  • More frequent checks for rehabilitation cases

New or re-flocked saddles should be rechecked after approximately 8 weeks.

It is the owner’s responsibility to monitor the horse and arrange follow-ups as needed.

9. Liability & Risk

Horses are unpredictable animals.

While all reasonable care is taken, The Saddle Fitter cannot be held liable for injury to persons, damage to property, or incidents arising from horse behaviour.

By booking, you accept these inherent risks.

We reserve the right to refuse service where safety is a concern.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

10. Confidentiality & Data Protection

All client information is treated as confidential and is held securely in an online system.

Information will only be shared:

  • With your written consent
  • Where required by law

All data is handled in accordance with UK GDPR.
