As an independent saddle fitter, my priority is achieving the correct fit for horse and rider. While I can supply new saddles from a range of manufacturers, the recommendation always comes first – sales are secondary to fit.
New Saddles Should Always Be Chosen Through Correct Saddle Fitting
Choosing the right saddle is not simply a matter of buying a new product — it’s a process that should always begin with correct saddle fitting. As an independent saddle fitter, my role is to assess the needs of both horse and rider before any recommendation is made. While I can supply new saddles from a range of well-established manufacturers and brands, this is never the primary focus. The priority is always achieving a balanced, comfortable, and correct fit that supports the horse’s movement and the rider’s position.
Many horses do not immediately require a new saddle. Changes in condition, muscle development, or workload can often be addressed through careful saddle adjustment or flocking. For this reason, I approach every consultation without assumption. A new saddle is only recommended where it is genuinely necessary, following a detailed assessment of saddle fit, back shape, and performance under saddle. As an independent professional, I am not tied to any single brand or manufacturer. This allows me to select from a wider range of saddle types and designs — including jumping saddles, dressage saddles, and general-purpose saddles — depending on what best suits the horse’s conformation and the rider’s discipline. The brands I work with include Cavaletti, GFS, Wintec, Bates, and Arena, among others. The focus remains on suitability, not sales.
